Why this is the best turkey bacon wrap recipe
Turkey club wraps taste great! All these wonderful, fresh flavors blend together to make a sandwich you will want to eat day after day.
These wraps are very easy and quick to prep. Melt the butter, layer the ingredients, add the veggies, and wrap it up. That's really all there is to it! It's truly a 2 minute recipe that makes the perfect quick lunch or weeknight dinner.
The ingredients for this easy recipe are common and inexpensive. You probably have most of the simple ingredients already in your pantry, and the remaining couple are available in most grocery stores.
This is a great make-ahead/meal prep recipe. You can prep all the ingredients on the weekend and store them in containers in the fridge, pulling out just what you need for one wrap, and taking the 2 minutes to warm it up when you're ready to eat a great lunch. OR you can make a bunch of wraps on the weekend, wrap them individually in aluminum foil, and store them in the fridge til you're ready to eat. Then, either eat them cold or zap them in the microwave for 30 seconds before eating.
This delicious wrap recipe is incredibly versatile. If you follow the basic recipe, you can substitute any meat, any cheese, and any veggies you want and still end up with a delicious sandwich. See the substitutions section below for suggestions.
This recipe is allergy friendly and great for special diets. Because this recipe uses mainly whole, natural ingredients, it's very healthy. Turkey bacon wraps as written are soy-free, egg-free, and nut-free. With simple modifications, they can be dairy-free (use vegan cheese) and gluten-free (use a gluten-free wrap). If you make a lettuce wrap or use a low-carb wrap, it works for most low carb, keto, and bariatric diets. As always, please check the labels on all the ingredients to ensure they fit your nutritional needs.
What you'll need to make turkey club wraps
Equipment
- 12-inch skillet - You need a frying pan that's slightly bigger than your tortillas.
Ingredients
See the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page for all measurements and nutrition facts.
- Butter - You will divide this into 4 parts and use one part for each tortilla. It doesn't matter whether you use salted or unsalted butter. It will taste exactly the same.
- Large flour tortillas - These should be big enough to wrap up your ingredients but small enough to fit into your skillet.
- Miracle Whip - Use plain mayonnaise if you prefer it.
- Horseradish mustard - I love this stuff and use it for everything except deviled eggs. But if you prefer spicy brown, Dijon, or even honey mustard, by all means, use what you like.
- Sliced mozzarella cheese - Again, use whatever cheese you want. I've made these with cheddar, pepper jack, colby jack, Swiss, and provolone. All delicious.
- Sliced deli turkey - You can use any deli meat such as ham, chicken, roast beef, or even leftover roast turkey or rotisserie chicken (slice it as thin as you can).
- Crispy pre-cooked bacon - These wraps cook for 2 minutes, so obviously not enough time to cook raw bacon.
- Thinly sliced cucumber - This adds a nice crunch to the wraps.
- Leafy lettuce or baby spinach - For some greens.
- Sprouts - I like the really fine baby sprouts for these wraps.
- Thinly sliced tomatoes - I think small to medium tomatoes work best.
How to make the best warm turkey bacon wraps
- Melt ½ tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Meanwhile, spread Miracle Whip or mayo and mustard on one large tortilla.
- Place the tortilla in the skillet with the Miracle Whip side up.
- Top the tortilla with 2 slices of cheese in the center of the wrap, up and down so that the cheese spans the whole length of the tortilla.
- Add 2 pieces of precooked bacon and 4 ounces of turkey slices. Cook for 2 minutes or until cheese is melted but not so much that it's running out in the pan.
- Slide the tortilla out of the skillet and onto a plate.
- Add thinly sliced cucumber and tomato slices, lettuce, sprouts, and any other toppings you like.
- Roll up and eat while it's still warm.
Variations and substitutions
Feel free to use turkey bacon or regular bacon, as you desire.
Turkey wraps are very versatile. You can substitute any meat, cheese, and veggie and still end up with a great sandwich. Here are some suggestions:
Condiments - I love Miracle Whip and horseradish mustard, but you are welcome to use whatever condiments you want. Some people love turkey bacon wraps with ranch dressing. You might prefer yellow mustard, spicy brown, Dijon, or honey mustard. It's your wrap, use whatever you like.
Meats - I suggest using deli turkey, but you could also use leftover roast turkey or rotisserie chicken, sliced as thin as possible. Or use a lunch meat such as deli chicken, ham, or roast beef.
Cheeses - I suggest using sliced mozzarella, but you could also use cheddar cheese, provolone, pepper jack, colby jack, gouda, or Swiss cheese.
Veggies - No wrap would be complete without a little lettuce or baby spinach, and I suggest cucumbers, sprouts, and tomatoes, but you could also consider romaine lettuce, fresh bell pepper strips, roasted red peppers, shredded carrots, pickles, red onions, avocado slices, and even potato chips for some crunch.
Storing leftovers
This is a great make-ahead meal for easy lunches or quick dinners. You can prep all the ingredients on the weekend and store them in containers in the fridge, pulling out just what you need for one wrap, and taking the 2 minutes to warm it up when you're ready to eat.
OR you can make a bunch of turkey bacon wraps on the weekend, wrap them individually in aluminum foil or plastic wrap, and store them in the fridge til you're ready to eat. Then, either eat them cold or zap them in the microwave for 30 seconds before eating.
I wouldn't try to freeze these wraps with the veggies in them because the veggies will get weird and slimy when they thaw. But if you wanted to make a bunch, up to the step of melting the cheese, then stack them up with parchment paper between and lay them flat in a zippered plastic bag, I think you could probably freeze them that way. Reheat them from frozen in the microwave, then top with fresh veggies and wrap them up.
