I am a reader. Reading nourishes my soul and delights my senses and allows me to escape into worlds I can only imagine.
I like a variety of books, too. I read a lot of fiction, a few mysteries and suspense but mostly slightly romantic chick flick style books though without too much smut. I don't especially like hard core graphic sex stuff. Though it doesn't usually stop me from finishing the book if I'm into the story, I generally don't recommend those on my blog. I also don't care for a lot of cursing though that won't really stop me from reading either.
I mostly listen to audiobooks, mostly because I fit my reading in at times when my Kindle isn't practical, like when I'm exercising or driving. Audiobooks totally count as reading because I am filling my brain with rich thoughts and ideas, even if my eyes aren't seeing the words on the page (or screen in my case).
I also encourage my children to read. Grace, my 11-year-old, loves graphic novels. Allie, my 8-year-old, isn't a strong enough reader yet to like books, but they both adore audiobooks as you'll see below. We have listened to many hundreds of hours of audiobooks in the car together, and they've occasionally gotten so involved in a story that they've begged me to bring it in after we've arrived at our destination. On a recent trip to Toronto, we spent hours in the hotel room listening to Harry Potter because we just. couldn't. put. it. down.
So I have broken my lists of resources below into categories for your convenience. If you have a suggestion for our next reading adventure, please do share in the comments below. I'd love to hear what you're reading and what you recommend.
