The only Apple Crisp Recipe you’ll ever need – Tender apples topped with an easy brown sugar oat topping. Serve with vanilla ice cream and watch it disappear.

    PIN IT FOR LATER!

Two weeks ago, I posted an Apple Crisp recipe that was so easy even 2-year-old Grace was able to make it (with a little help, of course).

    My Learning TowerPin

Just after I posted those apple crisp photos, a representative from My Learning Tower contacted me and asked if we'd like to review their product.

    As much as we have loved preparing food on our plastic step stool, I thought My Learning Tower would make our kitchen a little more sophisticated. {cough, cough}

Okay, our plastic step stool stinks (both literally and figuratively), and My Learning Tower was the answer to a hundred prayers over the last six months.

Now that we have an amazing new Tower, we are cooking more than ever.

Over the weekend, we made apple crisp again, but we used a new recipe. This one is a wee bit more complicated, but it is a lot better tasting than the other one.

How to Make Grace's Apple Crisp with Oats

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. In a medium bowl, mix dry ingredients - flour, oats, spice, and sugar. Blend well and try to keep the child in the Tower from eating it by the handful.
    3. In a small bowl, combine butter and apple sauce. Add to dry ingredients and mix until blended.

    4. Press half of flour mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Leave the other half of the flour mixture in the bowl.
    5. Peel, core, and slice the apples. Arrange about ⅓ of the apples on top of the flour mixture in the baking dish. Sprinkle with granulated sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Top with another ⅓ of the apples and more sugar and spice. Finish with the remaining apples, sugar, and spice.

    6. Top apples with remaining flour mixture, and try to distribute it evenly across the apples.
    7. Bake at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes, until apples are soft.

I have a learning tower and I love it. It was a gift from my parents when my little one was just standing but he's 3 now and we've been using it consistently. Glad you were able to get one.

When my children were young and "helped" with making apple crisp, I convinced my self that the disappearing crisp mixture was granola and not a sweet topping. Your helper is a cutie pie.

What a great way to let little ones help and keep them safe at the same time. Your apple crisp looks delicious, too. I like that it has whole wheat flour in it, too.

I love the idea of that tower. I wonder if it's too small for my 6 year old. He's not tall. definitely going to google it now.

I love apple crisp!! It's my sons' favorite, too. In fact, he requested apple crisp instead of a groom's cake at his wedding! It was cute.

      This recipe looks good!
