Learn how to make an awesome Air Fryer Ribeye Steak that's juicy, tender, and full of deep beefy flavor in less than 30 minutes with only 5 ingredients.

Ready in under 30 minutes, this will be your new go-to way of cooking steak.

While this recipe calls for ribeye, feel free to use the cut of meat of your choice. Do you prefer T-bones or sirloin? Why not! You can always count on your air fryer to produce the most delicious steaks.

    Ingredients

See printable recipe card at the bottom of the page for all measurements and nutritional information.

Ribeye Steak - Butcher’s cut is best but if that’s not possible, opt for a nice thick steak of at least 1”. You can also use any other cut of steak you prefer. Ask your local butcher for the best cut of meat to ensure perfect results.

Olive oil - Olive oil is used to brush over the steak before adding seasonings. You can also use Avocado, Sunflower, Peanut or Grapeseed oil.

Salt and pepper- Salt and pepper are mixed in with the other spices to give this steak its flavor.

Garlic powder - Fresh minced garlic is a great substitution if you don’t want to use garlic powder.

Smoked paprika - If you don’t have smoked paprika, regular paprika will work.

Steak seasoning - Here’s a great recipe for homemade steak seasoning.

    Equipment

Air Fryer - If you’re cooking for one or two people, a 2-4 quart should be sufficient. If you are cooking for more than four people on a regular basis, opt for a 5 quart or higher.

Meat Thermometer - It’s always recommended to use a meat thermometer when cooking any kind of meat. Digital thermometers are more accurate.

Small bowl - Any small bowl will do, glass, metal, or plastic. You'll use it to mix all the seasonings together.

Pastry brush - This is only used to brush olive oil on the steak prior to cooking. If you don’t have one, you can use your clean hands to do this.

    Suggested Toppings

Try some of these toppings if you like adding more pizzazz to your steak.

    • Garlic Butter
    • A-1 Steak Sauce
    • Crispy Fried Onions
    • Air Fryer Garlic Mushrooms
    • Pesto
    • Grilled Vegetables

    Step by Step Instructions

Blot the ribeye steaks with paper towels to remove excess moisture and ensure better browning. Brush each steak with olive oil, ensuring they are well coated on both sides. Leave for 15 minutes at room temperature.

pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels and let it rest on the counter for 15 minutesPin

In a small bowl, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and steak seasoning. Rub the steaks evenly with this spice mixture, coating all surfaces for a flavorful and well-seasoned result.

season the ribeye steak on both sidesPin

Begin by preheating the fryer to 400°F (200°C). This will provide the optimal temperature for crispiness on the ribeye steaks. Carefully place the seasoned ribeye steaks into the preheated air fryer basket, being careful not to overload it and to ensure proper air circulation. For medium rare steaks, cook for 10 to 12 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time. The cooking time can be adjusted according to the desired degree of doneness. See note below.

Using a meat thermometer, check the internal temperature of the steaks. For medium rare, the temperature should be 135°F (57°C). Remember that the temperature will rise slightly as the steaks rest.

When the ribeye steaks are cooked, remove them from the fryer and allow them to rest for a few minutes. This will allow the juices to be redistributed, ensuring juiciness and flavor. Slice the ribeye steaks against the fibers and serve immediately. Enjoy!

How to Tell if Your Steak is Done

Using a meat thermometer is the best way to tell if your steak is cooked to your desired tastes. Here are some cooking temperature guidelines for steak.

    • Rare - 125° F
    • Medium rare - 135° F
    • Medium - 145° F
    • Medium well - 155° F
    • Well done - 160° F

    Cooking Tips

If your steak is less than 1” thick, you must adjust your cooking time depending on the doneness you prefer.

While this steak is simply prepared with olive oil and some seasonings, you can marinate it with your favorite marinade if you desire. You can marinate it overnight or for just a few hours. I promise it will still be perfect.

    Tips for Leftovers

Is there really such a thing as leftover steak? Sometimes, yes. If you have some air fryer ribeye steak leftovers, simply store them in a glass airtight container and use them for a steak salad the next day.

Reheating this steak is not really advisable. You will turn a fantastic medium rare steak into an overcooked, dry piece of meat.

If steak salad isn’t your thing, you can make a steak sandwich or cut up the leftover steak the following day and toss it into an omelet for breakfast.

The possibilities are endless, but I honestly doubt there will be leftover steak!

This air fryer ribeye steak goes with anything, but here are a few suggestions.

    • Air Fryer Carrots
    • Garlic Parmesan Roasted Carrots
    • Easy Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Pecans
    • Oven Roasted Red Beets with Low Carb Balsamic Glaze and Feta Cheese

If you’re on a strict keto diet, you might also want to pair your steak with a nice salad. Here are a few salad recipes you can try.

    FAQs

How long to cook a steak for different doneness?

For medium rare, 7 to 9 minutes. For medium, 10 to 12 minutes.

How do you cook a steak in the air fryer without drying it out?

The trick here is to cook it quickly and on high heat. It’s also important to remember to let your steak rest for a few minutes before eating so the meat will absorb the juices.

Do I need to flip the steak in the air fryer?

Because an air fryer cooks food evenly, there is no need to flip it, but if you prefer to flip it, do so halfway through the cooking process.

What type of steak is best for the air fryer?

Tender cuts of beef are best. When shopping, look for ribeyes, top sirloin, and tenderloin steaks. Remember, you’re using a dry heat cooking method, so a tender cut is ideal.

The spices used here are simply suggestions. Feel free to use whatever spice tickles your taste buds. Air frying has come a long way in such a short amount of time. You can use yours to cook up just about anything from popcorn to meat and desserts to bread.

When choosing an air fryer to purchase, make sure to find one that will hold enough food, depending on the size of your family. A 4L is good for 2 to 3 people, whereas a 12L is excellent for a larger family.
