This homemade white pizza swaps traditional red sauce for a creamy ranch base, then piles on fresh spinach, mushrooms, and onion for a pizza night everyone will love. It's loaded with flavor, comes together with simple ingredients, and bakes up golden and cheesy in no time. Whether you're switching up your usual pizza routine or looking for a new vegetarian family favorite, this recipe delivers every time. Follow the easy step by step instructions below and get ready for a new pizza night favorite.

The thing I love most about pizza is that you can eat it every week, and it never gets old.
I suppose it would get old if you ate it the same way each and every week, but we don't. We've had chicken crust pizza (my favorite!), BBQ chicken pizza, chicken bacon ranch pizza, pulled pork pizza, Taco Bell copycat Mexican pizza, and a grilled pizza with traditional pepperoni and mushrooms.
And now this one!
Why this is the best Homemade White Pizza recipe
This white pizza is packed with flavor. The creamy ranch sauce, gooey melted cheese, savory mushrooms, tender spinach, and sweet onions give this pizza layers of flavor in every bite. You won't miss the traditional red pizza sauce at all.
White pizza is easy to make at home. You don't need any complicated ingredients or special pizza-making skills. Using homemade or store-bought pizza dough keeps the recipe manageable, even on a busy evening.

This white pizza recipe is a delicious meatless dinner. Spinach, mushrooms, and onions make this pizza hearty and satisfying without adding meat. It's a great choice for vegetarian pizza night or anytime you want to add more vegetables to dinner.
White pizza is easy to customize. You can change the vegetables, cheeses, and seasonings to use what you already have or make the pizza suit your family's tastes.
This is a great recipe for pizza night. Homemade white pizza is a fun change from traditional pepperoni or cheese pizza and works just as well for a casual weeknight dinner as it does for a weekend movie or game night.

I think there's something to be said for a homemade pizza crust. We almost always make our own and love the texture of the thick crust, but if you are pressed for time or just prefer to cut out that bit of the work, you could buy a premade crust in the dairy case of the grocery store or even use a package of crescent rolls. Your baking time will be slightly different in those cases, so watch your pizza carefully and adjust times as needed.
We also make our own ranch dressing using this recipe for ranch dressing mix. It's one of those easy recipes that you can make once and stick away in the cupboard and use for months. It's easy to whip up and then we store it in a half-pint mason jar with the rest of the spices.

The great thing about this pizza is that you can use whatever vegetables you like. I'm not a fan of fresh tomatoes, so we didn't use them, but if you are, you could very easily add halved cherry tomatoes or even a whole Roma tomato diced up. Same with bell peppers, cauliflower, and broccoli. All would be great additions to this pizza.
What you'll need to make the best Homemade White Pizza with Spinach, Mushroom, and Onion
Equipment
- Garlic press - I love my garlic press. It's the best way to distribute that tangy fresh garlic flavor throughout your meat mixture. If you don't have a garlic press, you can smash the cloves with the wide edge of your chef knife, then remove the papery skin and cut the garlic as fine as you can possibly get it with the sharp side of the knife.
- Pizza stone - I love my pizza stone, but if you don't have one, you could use a plain baking sheet. Your cook time might be a little shorter if you don't use a stone.

See the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page for all measurements and nutritional information.
Ingredients
- Pizza crust - uncooked preferred, but if you have one that's already baked, you can work with it.
- Garlic - This should be pressed or minced.
- Ranch dressing - I prefer to make my own, but you could use a commercial ranch if that's what you have.
- Chicken (optional) - Shredded chicken would go great in this recipe, but if you want to stick to meatless, leave it out.
- Mushrooms - Mushrooms are my favorite pizza topping, but if you don't like them, leave them off.
- Spinach - fresh, coarsely shredded or sliced into ribbons. I don't like whole leaves on my pizza because they aren't easy to bite through and kinda make a mess.
- Onion sliced into thin rounds - This is another of our favorite pizza toppings, but leave them off if you want or replace them with bell peppers or something else.
- Black olives - You can buy these pre-sliced or whole. You want to slice them before adding to your pizza.
- Shredded Mozzarella cheese - It's a pizza, right? I use mozzarella but you can use any kind of shredded cheese. I don't shred my own cheese; I buy it pre-shredded in the grocery store. I have often heard people say that it doesn't melt right, but I have had exactly one bag in thirty years of cooking that didn't melt properly. Don't let anyone guilt you into grating your own cheese if you don't want to.
How to make easy Homemade White Pizza with Spinach, Mushroom, and Onion
- Preheat the oven to 400º.
- Unroll the dough on a pizza stone. Starting at the center, press dough into a large circle. Try to fill the stone if you can.

- Press garlic onto uncooked dough using a garlic press. Use a knife to spread garlic around achieving an even layer of garlic over the entire crust.
- Pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes or until the crust is just beginning to turn golden on top.

- Spread ranch evenly over the garlic, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge of the pizza. You may not need the entire ½ cup of dressing. It's better to err on the side of dry than too wet.

- Top ranch with spinach, mushrooms, onion, and olives and then the cheese.

Note that you can add the cheese before or after the toppings.
- Bake for 13 to 16 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Substitutions & variations
You can use homemade pizza dough or refrigerated store-bought pizza dough. A pre-baked pizza crust will also work when you need to get dinner on the table even faster.

Use your favorite mushrooms in this recipe. White button mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, baby bellas, or a combination of varieties all work well.
You can replace the onion with red onion, sweet onion, shallots, or caramelized onions. Caramelized onions will give the pizza a sweeter, richer flavor.
Try adding other vegetables such as roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, broccoli, zucchini, tomatoes, or roasted garlic. Just avoid adding too many vegetables with a high water content unless you cook them first, since excess moisture can make the pizza soggy.
For the cheese, mozzarella gives you that classic melty pizza texture, but you can add Parmesan, provolone, fontina, ricotta, goat cheese, or feta for additional flavor.
If you want to add meat, cooked chicken, bacon, Italian sausage, prosciutto, or sliced ham all pair nicely with the spinach, mushrooms, onions, and white sauce.
For a little heat, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes over the pizza before serving. You can also add Italian seasoning, fresh basil, oregano, or a little extra garlic for even more flavor.
Storing leftover Homemade White Pizza
Allow leftover pizza to cool completely, then transfer the slices to an airtight container or wrap them tightly in foil or plastic wrap. Store the pizza in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
For the best texture, reheat leftover white pizza in a 375°F oven or toaster oven until the crust is crisp and the cheese is hot and melted. You can also reheat individual slices in a skillet over medium-low heat with a lid on top. The microwave works when you're in a hurry, although the crust will be softer.
You can freeze leftover pizza for longer storage. Place the cooled slices on a baking sheet and freeze until firm, then transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or airtight container with parchment paper between the slices. Freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat the frozen pizza directly from the freezer in the oven until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is hot and crisp.

Oh yummy!! I can't wait to try it! It looks sooo delicious, and sounds easy to make! I will have to subtract the onions, at least on his portion, or else Dustin will have a fit.

Katie - We left our onions in big rings because we all like them, but if you cut them small enough, they'd cook nicely and be totally invisible under the cheese in the finished pizza! 🙂

You forgot to include a great step to your recipe. The fact that it cooks awesome on your pampered chef round stone because the crust cooks evenly and is just soft or crunchy enough the way you like it. hehe
We love to make pizza on our stone too. 🙂
