Chex and Cheerios team up with mini pretzels and patriotic M&Ms, then get coated in melted almond bark and finished with red, white, and blue sprinkles for a festive, no-bake treat. It comes together in just a few minutes with no oven required, which makes it an easy one to throw together the morning of a cookout or fireworks night. This red, white, and blue mix is a hit with kids and adults alike, so it's worth making a big batch.

Why this is the best Easy 4th of July Snack Mix recipe

It's quick and easy. This 4th of July snack mix comes together with just a handful of simple ingredients and very little prep. There is no complicated baking or decorating, so you can make a festive treat without spending all afternoon in the kitchen.

4th of July snack mix has the best sweet and salty combination. Crunchy pretzels balance the creamy white chocolate and sweet M&Ms, giving you a little bit of everything in every handful. The mixture of textures keeps this snack interesting without making it fussy.

4th of July snack mix is easy to make ahead. You can prepare this patriotic snack mix before your July party and keep it ready until guests arrive. That makes it especially helpful when you already have burgers, side dishes, desserts, and everything else to worry about on the 4th of July.

4th of July snack mix is festive without extra work. Red, white, and blue candies instantly turn a simple snack mix into something that looks right at home at a patriotic party. Serve it in a big bowl or portion it into individual cups or treat bags for an easy grab-and-go snack.

Kids and adults can both enjoy this easy snack mix. The familiar combination of pretzels, chocolate, and M&M candy makes this an easy choice for family cookouts, picnics, pool parties, and backyard celebrations.

What you'll need to make the best 4th of July Snack Mix

    Equipment

    • Baking sheet - You're not actually baking this snack mix, but you do need something big and flat to spread it out on.
    • Parchment paper - Because you're going to pour melted white chocolate all over your snack mix, I recommend lining the baking sheet with parchment for easier cleanup. Otherwise, you'll be scraping chocolate off your baking sheet all afternoon. You could also use wax paper.

See the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page for all measurements and nutritional information.

    Ingredients

    • Chex cereal - Any flavor but we prefer rice.
    • Cheerios cereal - Any flavor.
    • Mini pretzels - Pretzel sticks would also work, but I think the grid ones grab onto the chocolate better.
    • Patriotic mix M&Ms - These are already red white and blue which makes them perfect.
    • Almond bark - This is white baking chocolate. It melts very smoothly and hardens at room temperature. It's the best option for snack mix because it won't be sticky at your party in June or July.
    • Sprinkles - red white and blue or some mix

How to make easy 4th of July Snack Mix

    1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
    2. Add the cereals, pretzels, and half the M&Ms. Stir.

    3. Melt the almond bark by adding it to a microwave safe bowl and heating in 30 second increments, stirring well in between, until melted.

    6. Allow about an hour for the candy to set and enjoy.

    Substitutions & variations

You can use mini pretzels, pretzel sticks, pretzel snaps, or another crunchy pretzel shape you have on hand. Smaller pieces are easier to mix with the candy and white chocolate, but larger ones hold onto more white chocolate, so it's a toss-up.

If you don't have white chocolate, you can use white candy melts or vanilla-flavored melting wafers instead. Candy melts are especially convenient because they melt smoothly and firm up quickly once the snack mix cools.

Use any red, white, and blue chocolate candies you can find. Seasonal M&Ms are an easy choice, but red and blue M&Ms will give you the same patriotic look.

A couple of handfuls of mini marshmallows are fun in this snack mix.

    Patriotic Chex snack mixPin

You can add more crunch with cereal, popcorn, peanuts, almonds, or crispy rice cereal. Keep the overall balance of sweet and salty ingredients similar so the white chocolate can still coat everything evenly.

You can also change the colors for other holidays. Swap the red, white, and blue candies and sprinkles for seasonal colors to make the same easy snack mix for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Halloween, or a birthday party.

Storing leftover red white and blue snack mix

Store leftovers at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 1 week, so the red, white, and blue sprinkles stay bright and fresh.

Avoid the refrigerator. Chilling can cause the almond bark coating to sweat once it comes back to room temperature, making the mix soggy instead of crisp.

Freezer-friendly for up to 2 months. Store in a freezer bag with the air pressed out, and let it come to room temperature before serving so the coating doesn't sweat.
