This CrockPot marry me chicken is the easiest way to bring the viral, proposal-worthy recipe everyone is obsessed with to your dinner table without babysitting a skillet all evening. Chicken breasts simmer low and slow in a rich, creamy sauce loaded with sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and plenty of Parmesan cheese, so the flavor gets even better the longer it cooks. Because the CrockPot does all the work, this is one of those meals you can start in the morning and come home to a dinner that tastes like it took hours of effort. The sauce turns out thick and glossy, perfect for spooning over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes, and there's always a little extra to soak up with warm bread. It's an easy weeknight dinner that's special enough for date night, and after one bite you'll understand exactly how it earned its name.

Why this is the best Crockpot Marry Me Chicken recipe
It's incredibly easy. This Crockpot Marry Me Chicken lets the slow cooker do most of the work, making it a great choice for busy days when you want a homemade dinner without spending the evening standing over the stove.
It's rich and creamy. The Parmesan cream sauce is savory and decadent, while the sun-dried tomatoes add a slightly sweet, tangy flavor that keeps the sauce from feeling too heavy.
The chicken stays tender and juicy. Cooking the chicken slowly in the creamy sauce gives it plenty of time to soak up all that garlic, Parmesan, and sun-dried tomato flavor.

It feels special without being complicated. Marry Me Chicken is impressive enough for a date night or Sunday dinner, but this Crockpot version is simple enough for an ordinary weeknight family meal.
What you'll need to make the best Crockpot Marry Me Chicken recipe
Equipment
- Crockpot
- Wireless meat thermometer - I use this thing every single time I cook any kind of meat or poultry. It can go right in the crockpot, and it tells me when my chicken breasts are done, often well before the recommended time in any recipe. Chicken is not like beef, where it gets more tender the longer it cooks. Chicken breasts get dry and tough when overcooked, even when cooked in a rich sauce like this one.
- Garlic press - I love my garlic press. It's the best way to distribute that tangy fresh garlic flavor throughout your meat mixture. If you don't have a garlic press, you can smash the cloves with the wide edge of your chef knife, then remove the papery skin and cut the garlic as fine as you can possibly get it with the sharp side of the knife.

See the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page for all measurements and nutritional information.
Ingredients
- Boneless skinless chicken breast - You can use breasts or thighs, and really, it doens't matter whether they're boneless or bone-in. The cooking time might be a little different for each of the above, but it matters less in the crockpot. Thighs are the most forgiving to overcooking if you don't have a meat thermometer to watch the doneness of the chicken.
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Garlic powder - I use both garlic powder and fresh garlic in this recipe. Don't leave either one out for the best flavor.
- Italian seasoning - This is my all-time favorite seasoning. I use it in a lot of dishes, Italian and not. It's a blend of oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme, and marjoram. Make sure it's fresh for the best flavor.
- Fresh garlic - This should be pressed or minced.
- Chicken broth - This is what makes your chicken saucy.
- Heavy cream - This is what makes your sauce creamy.
- Parmesan cheese - This should be grated. I do not recommend the grated cheese in a green can because it does not melt. You want the refrigerated grated cheese, or you can buy a block of Parmesan and grate it yourself.
- Sun-dried tomatoes - These should be drained and chopped.
- Cornstarch - This thickens the sauce at the end of the cook time.
- Water
- Fresh basil for garnish

Substitutions & variations
You can use boneless, skinless chicken breasts or chicken thighs in this Crockpot Marry Me Chicken. Chicken thighs tend to stay especially moist and tender in the slow cooker, while chicken breasts give you a leaner finished dish.
If you prefer a stronger sun-dried tomato flavor, add extra chopped sun-dried tomatoes. For a milder sauce, reduce the amount slightly. Sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil in the jar will add a little more richness, but dry-packed tomatoes will also work since they're cooking for a long time in the slow cooker.
If you're not a fan of Parmesan, you can substitute another hard Italian cheese such as Romano or Asiago for a slightly different flavor. For a thicker and extra creamy sauce, add a few ounces of cream cheese about an hour before serving and stir it in after it melts.

For a little heat, add red pepper flakes. If your family prefers a milder dinner, leave them out.
For a more robust sauce, add a teaspoon of paprika.
You can add baby spinach during the last few minutes of cooking for some extra color and vegetables. Mushrooms are another easy addition and can be cooked right along with the chicken.
Serve Crockpot Marry Me Chicken over pasta, mashed potatoes, rice, or cauliflower rice to soak up the creamy sun-dried tomato Parmesan sauce. Garlic bread and a simple green vegetable make easy sides.
FAQ
Can I use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts?
Chicken thighs work great!
Can marry me chicken be made ahead of time?
Yes. The sauce reheats very well. Store it in the fridge until you're ready to serve, then reheat gently on the stovetop or microwave.
What should I serve with Marry Me Chicken?
Pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, and garlic bread are all good choices.
Do I have to use sun-dried tomatoes?
Sun-dried tomatoes and Parmesan cheese will give you the classic flavor, but the recipe will still work without them. It may be a little bland. Consider adding sliced mushrooms and onions for flavor if you are going to leave out the sun-dried tomatoes.
Can I double the recipe?
Yes, as long as your slow cooker is big enough.

Storing leftover marry me chicken
As mentioned above, this recipe reheats beautifully and can be made up to 1-2 days in advance.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
You may be able to store marry me chicken in the freezer, but I don't recommend it as I think the sauce will separate when it thaws.
