Ingredients

  • ¼ cup dry buttermilk powder This is in the baking aisle of the grocery store. If you can't find it, use buttermilk in place of regular milk when you mix up your dressing.
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced parsley
  • 1 tablespoons dried chives
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper freshly ground, if possible
  • ½ teaspoon dried dill
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients and pulse in a food processor, blender, or spice grinder until powdery.
  • Use 2-3 heaping tablespoons in place of a packet of store bought ranch dressing mix.

To make ranch dressing

  • Combine ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream), ¼ cup light mayo, and ¼ cup low-fat milk (less for a thicker dip) with 2 heaping tablespoons of dry mix. Store dressing in the fridge.
  • Try to make a day in advance as the flavors will blend and taste much better the second day.

Notes

I like to make my homemade dressings in mason jars. It's easy to pour everything into the jar, put on a lid and ring, and shake it until it's well blended. You can even get a pour spout to make using the dressing directly from the jar easy.
