Homemade Sweet & Spicy BBQ Spice Rub

A sweet & spicy BBQ spice rub recipe that is perfect for pork, chicken, beef, or fish. You can also use this homemade spice blend for slow cooker pulled pork and any grilled meats.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sea salt
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper freshly ground, if possible
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary or 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh rosemary
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients and whir in a spice grinder or blender until smooth. Store in a sealed container at room temperature up to a year.
  • To use, brush meat with oil on both sides. Rub generously with spice blend. Wrap meat in aluminum foil and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight. Grill or bake as desired.
