This pumpkin chili combines classic chili flavors with real pumpkin puree and warm fall spices for a hearty, comforting bowl of cozy season comfort food. It comes together in one pot and is packed with pumpkin, ground meat, and just enough heat to warm you up on a cold night.
In a large pot over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion until beef is fully cooked. Add garlic and cook until garlic is fragrant. Drain excess grease if needed.
Stir in pumpkin purée, tomato sauce, and chili seasoning. Bring to a gentle simmer.
Cover and simmer for 30–35 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Cook ground beef, onions, and garlic as directed above. Add drained beef with all other ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on low until bubbly, about 6-8 hours (or high for 3-4 hours).

To make homemade chili seasoning, whisk together:
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons dark chili powder
1½ teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon cumin
¾ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
