Easy Fried Pickle Dip Recipe (Creamy with a Crispy Panko Topping)
A creamy cream cheese and sour cream base loaded with chopped dill pickles and topped with skillet-toasted panko breadcrumbs for all the flavor of fried pickles without the fryer. Serve it cold with crackers, chips, or pretzels for an appetizer everyone will ask about.
Add the butter to a small skillet and melt over medium heat.
Add the panko bread crumbs and toast, stirring frequently, until golden brown. Set aside.
Beat the cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Add the sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, pickle juice, and pickles, and mix well to combine.
Taste the dip and add salt and pepper as needed.
Spread dip in a 1-quart serving bowl and top with the toasted panko.
Serve with chips or pretzels.
Notes
Refrigerate leftover pickle dip in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.Store the panko topping separately if you can, and add it right before serving. Skillet-toasted panko loses its crunch fast once it sits on top of a cold, moist dip, so keeping it separate is the best way to preserve that fried-pickle texture. If it's already mixed together, it's still safe to eat within that 3-4 day window, but expect the topping to be soggy rather than crispy. This recipe is not freezer-friendly. The cream cheese and sour cream base will separate and turn grainy after freezing and thawing, and the panko won't hold any crunch at all once thawed.
