Oriental Green Beans

  • pounds fresh green beans trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce we use low sodium
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 6 cloves garlic pressed or minced
  • ½ cup almonds slivered or sliced


  • Steam beans until just tender, 4 to 5 minutes.
  • While beans are cooking, combine soy sauce, oil, and sugar. Set aside.
  • Preheat large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic, stirring constantly until soft, 20 to 30 seconds. Add green beans and almonds, stirring constantly about 2 minutes.
  • Add soy sauce mixture. Continue to cook and stir until most of the liquid is absorbed, 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
