Banana Crumble featuring Angostura Bitters

  • 1 ½ cups fresh bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup brown sugar firmly packed
  • ¼ cup granulated white sugar
  • ½ cup pecans chopped
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 5 tablespoons butter melted, divided
  • 1 tablespoons Angostura aromatic bitters
  • 6 large bananas peeled and sliced into ½" thick slices, divided


  • Stir breadcrumbs, sugars, pecans, spices, 4 tablespoons butter, and bitters to make a crumb.
  • Wipe 1 tablespoon of melted butter inside a pie plate.
  • Slice 3 bananas and arrange them in a single layer in the pie plate.
  • Sprinkle half of the crumb over the bananas.
  • Repeat, making another layer of bananas and another layer of crumb.
  • Bake for 40 minutes, until slightly browned.
