DIY Tassel Necklaces for Stylish Ladies

I love bright colors. All colors. Well, maybe all colors except yellow. Yellow is not my favorite. Tassels have been the in thing in jewelry for quite a number of years now, and I have a few different pieces of jewelry with tassels on them, but I saw a colorful tassel necklace at a store recently and was inspired to make my own. I thought these necklaces came out so well that I made six of them – three for me, two for Grace (who’s 10), and one for Allie (who’s 7). I love how easy these necklaces are to … Read more

51 Awesome Christian Christmas Gift Ideas for Kids

51 awesome Christian Christmas gifts for kids - Wondering what to get your kids for the holidays? This post is full of tips and ideas for buying Xmas gifts that bring children back to Jesus without lame presents.

Christmas is my favorite, but it is really easy to shift the focus of Christmas away from Jesus and towards Santa and material things. The Jesse Tree and The Truth in the Tinsel help a lot, but still my kids talk all through the months of October, November, and December about the presents they want and the presents they think they will get. We do Santa. We like Santa, and we like all the magic and warm fuzzy feelings that he brings our kids. But still, I want to point Christmas morning back to Jesus. To that end, some of … Read more

A Christmas Wish List Featuring Zales

My husband is a notoriously bad gift giver. I mean, he is earnest and sweet and kind, but he does not have a knack for picking out knock your socks off gifts. One year, he gave me a pair of scissors because he’d lost mine. Another year, he gave me a picture frame to replace one he’d broken. He just reminded me of the time when he gave me a box of pens because I was always complaining that I didn’t have one. Often, he wraps up packages of candy (not so well received when I’m trying to lose weight). … Read more

Playing Dress Up

Grace loves to play dress up. We have a big box of tiaras and jewelry and dresses and assorted other stuff, and Grace gets it out at least once a week. Often, the scene looks something like this: Grace dons all of the necklaces and bracelets in the box, followed by sparkly earrings and a tiara. And high heeled princess shoes. Cute as she is, I’m ambivalent about the princess garb. I’d rather she dress up like a mermaid or a ballerina, to be honest, but I’d never admit that to her. It’s pretend play, and it’s good for her. … Read more

Lisa Leonard Designs Giveaway

You know how they say diamonds are a girl’s best friend? That’s not true for me. Personalized jewelry is my best friend. Initials, names, birthstones, little teeny faces. As long as it’s personalized, I’ll love it. As you might imagine, I am over the moon about this necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs – I don’t feel the need to say anything else about it because it speaks for itself. I have had my eye on a couple of Lisa’s necklaces for months. I just adore them. This is my other favorite. You know, the one I’ll be ordering next week. … Read more

The Pretty Peacock Giveaway

The Pretty Peacock I am a jewelry fiend. It’s a sickness. Admitting it is the first step, right? The Pretty Peacock does not help my jewelry obsession. I really really really really want the necklace that you see at the left. Except I don’t know Jason, John, and Dallas, so I would put Joe, Gracie, and Tara on it instead. The Pretty Peacock is a mom-owned business. Ana is that mom.  She started out on Etsy and has just expanded to her own boutique website. She runs her business from her home studio in Seattle, Washington so that she can … Read more
