Back in the old days of my blog, I wrote frequently about homeschooling, crafts, and activities to do with your kids. In the past couple of years, I have pivoted somewhat and now write much more on physical and mental health, but that does not mean I no longer homeschool (I do) or craft (I do) or do lots of fun activities with my kids (I do that too). It just means that I haven’t been talking about it as much here. Last year, in the spring, I made these fun sun catchers with the girls on Easter weekend, took … Read more

Kids Noisemaker Craft for New Year’s Eve

On Monday, I shared a really fun activity that guided our New Year’s Eve last year. In short, I wrote a bunch of activities on slips of paper, rolled them up, and stuffed them into balloons that the kids popped as the hours ticked by. One of the projects was to make noisemakers for midnight (which, incidentally, rolled around at 9pm). These noisemakers were quick and easy to make, and they used materials that we already had at home (mostly due to a lack of planning on my part). They cost pennies to make, too. Easy 5-minute Duct Tape Binoculars Made from Toilet Paper Rolls

We made this craft back in January, when we were watching birds at the feeder in front of our living room window. Allie thought it was so cool to have her own binoculars to stare at the birds fifteen feet away. She carried those binoculars around all the time, abusing them as any 3-year-old would. Thanks to the duct tape, they stayed together. They’re still around here somewhere even now, 7 months later. Materials: A heavy pair of scissors Two empty toilet paper tubes A roll or two of fancy duct tape – A note about the tape in the … Read more

Bring the Easter Story to Life with A Sense of the Resurrection

A Sense of the Resurrection teaches children about Jesus' death through real life sensory experiences.

We love holidays at my house. Obviously. Even though many all of the holidays have been difficult since my mom died, I think it’s so important to preserve my kids’ childhood celebrations. Holidays are magical when you’re little, and I want my kids to be little for as long as possible. During Advent, we focus on Jesus for the whole month before Christmas. We study his lineage through our Jesse Tree devotionals, and we talk about our excitement for His coming. We celebrate His birthday, and then Santa comes and brings lots of presents. I don’t think it’s confusing for … Read more

Valentine Suncatchers – Easy Tissue Paper Crafts for Kids

Finished suncatchers - Easy Valentine Suncatcher Crafts for Kids

You make a lot of heart crafts when you have two little girls. My girls just love hearts. They draw hearts and they cut hearts and the like to glue and paint hearts. Valentine’s Day is like our crafting heaven. This is the craft that kicked off our Valentine’s Day crafting, and I had actually forgotten all about it until I went looking for something in my photos. I was like, “Hey! Did I post that on my blog?!” and I came looking for it, and lo and behold, I had deprived you of it for a month. Sorry. Anyway, … Read more
