My sweet 8-year-old, Allie, is just discovering a love of reading. She has never really enjoyed books before now, but the switch has flipped, and she loves to have me read to her whenever we can sit down together. Allie’s favorite book right now is the ICB Bible, followed closely by Dr. Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham and Karma Wilson’s wonderful and plentiful bear books. We read them frequently, and I’m hoping that she will figure out some of the words in Green Eggs and Ham as her reading improves. Allie also loves the computer, and she saw me making … Read more

As you know, I am quite the voracious reader. I don’t set goals like I’m going to read 52 books this year or anything like that. Honestly, I don’t have any idea how many books I read in 2018 or in 2017 or in any year ever. I don’t really care because I read for fun and not to achieve some sense of satisfaction. I don’t know how many books I’ll read in 2019, but suffice it to say that I will read a lot. Or more accurately I imagine, I will listen a lot and read some, mostly grad school stuff … Read more

My kids are movie junkies. They love watching movies and tv. I’m not so much now although I have been at different times in my past. What I do get behind 100% is books. I love love love books, and even my kids are totally in love with audiobooks. We listen every single time we get in the car, and we have listened to hundreds and hundreds of hours of books over the last five years. We are a reading family. We own more than a thousand books (well over, if you’re counting), and we read daily. We also listen to a lot of audiobooks, especially when we’re in the car. We’ve started listening to the Harry Potter series recently which has spurred a new obsession in my children.
