If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you might have seen that my sweet kitty, Sammy, died two weeks ago. He was 16. Sammy was the third of our kitties to pass in about three years which makes it that much worse. They were all pretty old, but that also means that all three were part of the family for my kids’ entire lives.  Sammy was the best cat I ever had by far. The Book About the Smelly Dinosaur

Grace and I go to the library every week. We maintain a schedule in order to avoid last year’s nasty fine episode. I’ve had to pay only a few bucks in fines since we started going to the library every Thursday. Since we go often, I’ve noticed Grace choosing some of the same books over and over again. Fancy Nancy. Dora. Franklin. Arthur. Jellybeans. Clifford. She really likes the Ready to Read series. I can tell that Grace is ready to read. She’s sounding out the words and thinking about letters and how they get together. She’s also thinking about … Read more

A Rainbow Scavenger Hunt

rainbow scavenger hunt for preschoolers

Grace has been enthralled by St. Patrick’s Day ever since she was back in Tweenie School (that’s what she called the daycare she went to {and adored} from birth to age 2). During the month of March, a scheming leprechaun visited Tweenie School when the kids went outside or took a nap. He made messes and played tricks on them. The teachers set a trap for him, and he filled it up with chocolate coins. Every single day, when I picked Grace up from Tweenie School, she would squeal and tell me about those tricky leprechauns, waving her arms wildly … Read more

Christmas is coming! Sorry if you’re already sick of hearing about Christmas around here. It’s going to get worse. I can’t help myself. Christmas is coming! I’m excited. Each year, for Christmas, we get Grace a book or two six. If you’re thinking about doing the same, here are some of our favorites at the moment. One Hand, Two Hands I received this book from a Tommy Nelson representative at the Relevant Conference. It was instantly one of Grace’s favorites. She loves the sing-songy cadence, and she loves acting out the motions described in the book. We wave our hands, … Read more
