Sugar-free BBQ Sauce Recipe

The world's best sugar-free, gluten-free, low carb, healthy BBQ sauce - This simple, easy, homemade recipe has no added sugars (not even honey) and features apple cider vinegar, chili powder, and liquid smoke for the familiar flavor you love. The spices work well for any meat.

I am talking a lot about food this week, not for any reason in particular.  I know it’s a departure from my normal Christian content, but we all eat, so I thought I’d share some of the good things we’ve been eating recently.  Since my bariatric surgery, I have followed a very strict sugar-free, very low carb diet. I don’t eat anything with added sugar at all, and very few things with natural sugars (some yogurt and tomato sauce, for example, but only if there’s no added sugar).  I have always loved barbecue sauce, and losing that was a real … Read more

Sweet Chili Sauce

This homemade sweet chili sauce recipe is easy to put together and so tasty! It’s sweet and spicy and you will love to dip everything in it from french fries to chicken kabobs, and you can also make it thinner to pour over stir fry! We used sambal oelek for this dish. It is an Asian staple made from ground red chile peppers in a vinegar sauce. We have grown to love it ever since using it in a General Tso’s Chicken recipe (which I will share soon) last year. I think it’s the perfect pepper source for this sauce. … Read more

Crockpot Meatloaf

crockpot meatloaf

Today is Old Grandma’s birthday. I wanted to write a post all about some fabulous recipe that she makes that I make now, but I couldn’t think of anything. When Grandma was a young woman, she cooked in restaurants. For most of her life, Grandma made everything from scratch. Everything. I remember very clearly the year that Grandma first started buying frozen pies. I was sad, but I wouldn’t have dreamed telling Grandma that I wanted a homemade pie. Old Grandma turns 84 today. She doesn’t do much cooking these days. She heats frozen and ready-made foods. She eats from … Read more

Healthier Meatloaf

I’m in the mood for some comfort food, and nothing is more comforting than A1 sauce slathered over a big hunk of meatloaf. I don’t make meatloaf, mind you. This is 100% Joe’s department. Raw meat is so not my thing. We’ve never really loved turkey meatloaf, but we do try to cut fat and eat healthier foods. This version combines moist, juicy ground beef with ground turkey for a lighter twist on the original.  We both really like this version of meatloaf. We’ve been using this recipe for the duration of our marriage, but I don’t know where it … Read more

Smokey BBQ Chicken or Pork Sliders

My friend, Jeanne, had a Pampered Chef party last week, and her consultant made this chicken. It was so good that I had two sandwiches. Really, really delicious. I love BBQ, and this didn’t disappoint. The Pampered Chef tools made it come together in under a half hour. Without those, it might take a little longer, but it’s worth it. If you want to make sandwiches, find smaller than normal rolls. You’ll eat less that way. I also think this would be delicious over rice or pasta, or even over mashed potatoes. Throw some broccoli or carrots in the microwave … Read more
