Green Beans with Caramelized Onions
onion – if using large onions, chop them coarsely. Pearl onions work nicely, whole or cut in half.
Heat oil and sugar together in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and saute until tender and golden brown, stirring often, about 10 minutes.
Add green beans until crisp-tender, stirring frequently, about 3 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in dill, salt, and pepper.
*A note about dill – Stirring the fresh dill in after cooking preserves its flavor. Heating decreases the flavor of the dill.
