I had gastric sleeve surgery 7/1/19. I got home from the hospital and was very hungry. I had stuck to a 2 week 500 cal a day liver shrinking diet and could not take another day of clear liquids., I mean I was sobbing to my husband “I’m so hungry!” 5 days after surgery, like you, I tried slowly eating a couple bites of scrambled egg. I tasted so wonderful and satisfied the gnawing hunger pangs. Relief! No I’ll effects. I continued eating soft foods, oatmeal, poached egg in tiny amounts and began to feel stronger and happier. Today was my at home visit from a nurse. I told her what I had been eating and she basically told me I had sabotaged my weight loss.

That doesn’t sound very helpful. Did she say on what she based that opinion? My doctor told me that I should avoid all carbs – so no oatmeal – but otherwise, they were very happy with my progress. Regardless, you can always start today and eat lean proteins and you’ll do fine.
