Date Nights with Dr. Oetker Ristorante

Evenings at my house are not conducive to a healthy marriage.

When Joe comes home, I go to work (on the couch, but to work nonetheless). We all eat together, and he bathes the children and puts them to bed. Usually, he falls asleep in one room or the other, and I work until the news comes on.

Or later.

In this season of our lives, there's not a lot of time for looking deep into each others' eyes. It's still important though, vital even.

We have a standing date with friends. Each month, the four of us go out to dinner together and talk about grown up subjects without little fingers in our plates. It's heavenly.

As much as grown up time makes us better adults, it doesn't help to rekindle the romance between my husband and I.

Our budget doesn't allow two evenings out each month, so Joe and I continue to carve out date nights at home.

Most of the time, we eat pizza and play a game. We've found a new game called Kerfuffle that requires no word skills and is mostly based on chance. No one is at an advantage, and we win equally.dr oetker pizza review

That's very important when one of us is irrationally competitive.

Back to the pizza.

Last week, Joe and I had a microwavable frozen pizza from Dr. Oetker's (urt-ker) Ristorante. Having a frozen pizza gives us a late night snack after the girls are in bed, but without the price or calories of delivery.

Since the 1970s, Dr. Oetker has made high quality frozen pizza in Germany. It has become a favorite thin-crust pizza brand throughout Europe and Canada. Best of all, Dr. Oetker Ristorante is currently available at grocery stores in several states, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., Rhode Island, Baltimore, Maryland and New Hampshire.

We had the Ristorante Vegetale last week, and we can't wait to try Pizza Fungi (look at all those mushrooms!) and Quattro Fromaggi.

  1. I would love to try the Quattro Formaggi, it sounds wonderfully different and I love to try out new foods.
