Veggie Tales: An Easter Carol

I've mentioned before that there are only three things that Grace can watch on television – Sesame Street, Barney, and Veggie Tales. We have allowed her to expand her repertoire slightly to include a few Disney movies, but her choices and viewing time are still strictly limited.

I bent the time limit rule two nights ago. We had gotten a new movie, Veggie Tales: An Easter Carol, and Grace asked so nicely to watch it over and over again.

It helps that I think the movie is a riot. It is sweet and cute, and it has a great message, like all Veggie Tales movies we've seen, but that's not what makes me laugh. It's based on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. There's a sickly little boy and an old Scrooge and ghosts of Easter past, present, and future, and it stresses the real meaning of the holiday. Every time we've watched it, I have seen something else that evokes Dickens' original story. I love it!

Of course, there are things in this video that you won't see in A Christmas Carol, like plastic eggs and mechanized chickens and singing asparagus. I'm just saying.

Did I mention that Grace likes it, too? She does. We watch it all together as a family.

An Easter Carol will premier on the Gospel Music Channel tonight (April 10) at 7 pm Eastern or you can buy the DVD. You'll like it, too.

I'd like to thank the Family Review Network and Veggie Tales for allowing me to share this review with you.
