I Flipped!

I’ve been really wanting a Flip Ultra video camera.

Joe and I got a terrific digital video camera right before we got married, with the thought that it would be wonderful for our wedding, honeymoon, and when we had children. Well… it was and is wonderful for all of those things, but it has one small flaw. The videos can be viewed only on the mini-DVDs it creates or through the television. It’s possible to record them onto normal DVDs using our DVD player/burner, but it takes a long time watching and recording each and every movie in real time. Then, I feel like I’m wasting the DVD if I finalize it before it’s completely full, so I haven’t actually gotten one finalized yet. Thus, all of my great Gracie Anna videos are still on the camcorder or on an unfinalized DVD, and only Joe and I have seen them.

I’ve been unhappy with this system for some months, but Joe was reluctant to spend a large chunk of money on a camera when we have a really nice one. Finally, he consented to me buying the Flip Ultra I’ve had my eye on forever, and it arrived today.

I used my pink and white Flip Ultra to shoot the following video of my little Pumpkin climbing the stairs.

  1. I love the video! I bet you’re going to get tons of use out of that Flip. We borrowed a camcorder from the ILs, but I always use the movie mode on my point&shoot digital camera because it’s so much more convenient, and all I usually need is a couple minutes worth.

  3. When my big fat expensive video camera died right before Christmas (and kids’ concerts, plays, etc that I would want to be taping) I bought a Flip because it was a cheap interim purchase until I wanted to replace the big fat one. I didn’t even know it was “the” thing in video with Oprah loving it and all that stuff.

Best $120 I ever spent, I love that thing and now I do WAY more video because it’s small.

So, I join in the ranks of Flip whores everywhere!

From the looks of it, I think I have a Flip knockoff and I love it!
