You Be The Judge!
[4 Aug 2009 | 16 Comments | ]
You Be The Judge!

Every year, I buy a cookbook containing the best recipes from the Pillsbury Bake Off. They really are that good.
This year, Pillsbury is allowing me (and all of you, Dear Readers!) to participate in deciding the finalists in the contest in their first ever You Be the Judge! program. The current recipes are Tropical Cocunut Bars and Peach-Pecan Thumbprint Cookies.
Watch this video before you vote for hints on how to choose a winning Bake Off recipe:

And then visit Pillsbury to cast your ballot. A new pair of recipes will be …

Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Bread
[30 Jul 2009 | No Comment | ]
Sara Lee Soft & Smooth Bread

I like bread.
More specifically, I like bread when it’s topped with butter and a generous amount of apple butter.
I prefer my bread to have some weight to it, like a twelve grain. It is hefty and full of crunchy bits. I love it.
Toasted, with butter and apple butter.
My husband, however, likes his bread white and smooth. It’s a dilemma.
Sara Lee sent us a few samples from the Soft & Smooth line, and I set up a taste test to see if we could agree on one of the breads.
I put …

Skinny Cow Review
[1 May 2009 | One Comment | ]

About sixteen months ago, I started Weight Watchers. It was easy for me to follow, and Joe soon joined in.
Weight Watchers is not about deprivation. It’s about replacing bad habits with better ones and learning to make healthier food choices.
We knew we’d miss our evening snack, so we went looking for a replacement. We tried other fudge bars, but we weren’t entirely impressed. A friend suggested we try Skinny Cow fudge bars.
Oh my goodness! Those fudge bars are as good as any on the market. They’re delicious.
I love ice cream.
You …

WomenHeart’s All Heart Family Cookbook
[30 Mar 2009 | 20 Comments | ]

A couple of weeks ago, I received a copy of the WomenHeart’s All Heart Family Cookbook, and I haven’t seen it since. Joe took it. He’s been reading it.
Reading it. From cover to cover, like a magazine or a trashy novel. That’s the beauty of this cookbook, Dear Reader.
Part One of the WomenHeart’s All Heart Family Cookbook is a primer on heart healthy living. The introduction talks about many different forms of heart disease, in an interesting way, and how to prevent them through diet and exercise. It also talks …

DaBib is Da Bomb
[24 Mar 2009 | 45 Comments | ]

I have a messy toddler. Don’t we all?
I suppose there’s a rare toddler out there who prefers not to make a mess when she eats, but I did not give birth to that one. I gave birth to the normal one who likes to explore the texture of food between her fingers and insists on feeding herself, thank you very much.
Even when it means getting ice cream or soup or ketchup all over the table, the chair, the floor, and her clothes.
She’s like Frank Sinatra – I did it my …
